Tree plantation is the most effective solution for environmental conservation.

Minister Girish Mahajan: 6,000 saplings planted under Mission Green Monsoon.

Nashik (Correspondent): Against the backdrop of the Unnat Nashik Abhiyan and the upcoming Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela, the ‘Harit Kumbh – Harit Monsoon’, or ‘Mission Green Monsoon’, initiative is being carried out. On the second Sunday of the campaign, around 6,000 saplings were planted at various locations in Nashik.

Of these, 2,600 saplings were planted in the Nashik Vanrai–Peacock Garden area of Mhasrul, while another 3,400 saplings were planted in the Grape County Resort area on Trimbak Road.

Minister Girish Mahajan said that, considering the environmental challenges created by rising temperatures, the El Niño phenomenon and climate change, large-scale tree plantation is an effective solution. He stressed that the ‘Green Nashik’ campaign should become a people’s movement rather than remain only a government initiative.

Under Mission Green Monsoon, one lakh trees are proposed to be planted, and their survival and nurturing will be the real measure of the campaign’s success.”

The event at Grape County Resort was attended by Mayor Himgouri Aher-Adke, MLA Gokul Gite, corporator Dipali Gite, Rupali Nanaware, Grape County’s Kiran Chavan, environmental expert Shekhar Gaikwad, Sandeep Jadhav, representatives of social organisations, environmental activists and citizens.

The campaign is scheduled to continue from 28 June to 25 October 2026, with planned tree-plantation drives every Sunday during the monsoon. The initiative has also received strong participation from Nashik citizens.
