Nashik, 5 July: Kumbh Mela Minister Girish Mahajan stated that, considering the environmental challenges caused by rising temperatures, the El Niño phenomenon and climate change, tree plantation is the most effective solution.

The Mission Green Monsoon initiative is being implemented under the Unnat Nashik Abhiyan and against the backdrop of the Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela. In the presence of Minister Mahajan, 6,000 saplings were planted at different locations in the city on Sunday, 5 July.

Of these, 2,600 saplings were planted in the Nashik Vanrai and Mhasrul areas. Mayor Himgouri Adke, MLA Gokul Gite, corporator Dipali Gite, Rupali Nanaware, Grape County’s Kiran Chavan, environmental expert Shekhar Gaikwad, Sandeep Jadhav, representatives of various social organisations, environmental activists and citizens were present.

“Green Nashik is not merely a government initiative; this movement should reach every household. Citizens should contribute to Green Nashik by planting trees and accepting responsibility for their protection and care. The care and survival of the one lakh trees to be planted under Mission Green Monsoon will be the real success of the campaign. Planned tree-plantation drives will be conducted every Sunday until 25 October.”
